If you don’t have a mobile-friendly website, you’ll be missing on traffic to your website, and not just a small amount of traffic either! Looking across all our clients, we find that at least 50% of their traffic is from mobile users. Now, that is fine when your website is mobile-friendly or responsive, but if it’s not your traffic statistics will suggest less traffic is from mobiles, however, this is because Google will not be sending customers to your website due to it not being mobile-friendly!

How do I get a mobile-friendly site?

If you’re using a platform like WordPress, it may be as easy as updating your theme. But watch out! Sometimes developers heavily customise an existing theme so updating it may break all their customisations. If that happens, you’ll need to restore the old theme from a backup. If you have a website built on a custom platform, you will need to go back to your existing developer to ask them to re-design your website (in most cases).

How does a responsive website affect my search engine rankings?

Search engines are smart. They work out if a site is going to be a good experience on a mobile device. This factor is one of many search engines such as Google uses to determine how to rank your website. If your website is mobile-friendly, Google (and other search engines) will send you traffic from mobile users because your website will rank better. So, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy, if you build it, they will come.
